COMPLETED GAME! 31/01/24

I have managed to get the game to a completable state and I am very happy with the results considering the limited time I had to complete this project. In this final devlog I will discuss what final additions had to be made in order to get the game to this final state.

I completely overhauled the enemy movement as a result of my enemy being unable to move at all for a previous while. I used the Unity Nav Mesh System in order to get my enemy movement fully functional. This resulted in making the enemy constantly chase the player which I am very pleased with. I never got to add the enemies LASER Gun but due to limitations I just made the enemy deal damage when they collide with the player.

The players gun is finally fully functional and makes a pew sound when firing, it isn’t as fast as an actual LASER beam but to add challenge I made the LASER beam a projectile so you have to time your shots whilst aiming. Thanks to a fellow classmate Connor and lecturer Sarah for helping me figure out issues with the interactivity of the beams with the enemy and sound of beam not playing accordingly.

The Controls, Victory and Game Over Screens are all completely functional and send the player to the correct screens when pressing the according buttons.

The game’s quit button in the Main Menu Screen works as intended, massive thanks to a fellow classmate James who helped me code that.

Overall very happy that I got this completed, unhappy that it’s 1 enemy and 1 level but my procrastination can take the blame for that, looking forward to next semester when hopefully I can produce an even better game!
